Week 2

This week in science we learned many different and new things! We started off our class by going over some notes and watching a few videos. Then we got into the good stuff!       The highlight of science this week was making an anchor chart, germinating seeds, and dissecting beans! My group members and I had a BLAST with all of these activities in class.       Our anchor chart was about the 8 different characteristics of living things! Those 8 characteristics consist of cellular composition, genetics and heredity, maintaining homeostasis, growth and change, movement, responds to stimuli, metabolism, and reproduction. After our group had compiled our different elements of our poster, we shared our work with the class and it was a hit. I also really enjoyed seeing our classmates posters! Everyone had the same topics but a different approach with pictures and descriptions. It was great to see what everyone had worked on!...

Week 1

This week we learned a lot of new and interesting things! First we got to know our classmates that are in the TEP and taking this science course! We also went over the syllabus, NGSS, the three dimensions of frame work, and how to create and post on our blogs. All of this information was very useful and interesting to learn about! Aside from this stuff that we learned in the discussion, in the lecture portion of class we learned about some basic biology which I already had some background in.   Things that were clear to me in class were the blog posts and how this works. I think this is a great way to connect with our classmates! Some things that were confusing to me at first was the way that NGSS is set up, after talking through and reviewing each aspect things started to become more clear.  I can apply my basic understanding of biology to my future teaching by just explaining these simple concepts! I can also use NGSS to set up lessons for my students, now that we know ...
