-What did you do in lab today?   In lab this week, we discussed the homework from the week before. We also talked about how and what we are learning here in class. We talked about how we are learning to teach science through example. We also talked about how we can text/ see how our students are learning through proficiency and progress. Not only did we talk about that in class, but we also shared our videos about convection cells/ currents with our table group members. It was really cool getting to see how other people chose to do this assignment. After we shared videos, we got to do an activity where we made different types of rocks. Our job was to make igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks from starbursts. This was really fun and I think it was a great way for us to explore how these different types of rocks are made.  here are some photos from our experiment:  -What was the big question? (all big questions are posted below) Assessments:  1.How ...

Week 8 blog, week 9 class

-What did you do in lab today?   In lab this week we did an activity where we talked about the series of events that have occurred on earth since it was created. We had a time line posted up in the classroom and our job was to go to the time line and put where we though each event had happened in the timeline of earth. After we put our predictions onto the time line we went onto a website that gave us the break down of each period of time on earth. We also had to find 2-3 events on the timeline website to put on our time line in class. This was a really fun activity because we got to go in depth and learn more about these events on earth.   -What was the big question? (all big questions are posted below) - I think that the big question this week is: Hypothesis when you think these things first happened on earth: 1. Humans appeared (Homo Sapiens sapiens) 2. Dinosaurs ruled the earth 3. First land plants 4. First land animals 5. Moon was created Place your answ...

Week 7 blog, week 8 class

-What did you do in lab today?   In lab we watched and listened to presentations about the origin of earth, origin of the universe, black holes, lifecycles of stars, galaxies, and exploration of space: past, present, future. This was really fun learning from my peers. Our group did our presentation about the lifecycle of stars.   -What was the big question? (all big questions are posted below) I think the big question of this week was if we could successfully teach our peers about those 6 different topics that were posted above. I also think that Ted did this to test our knowledge on what he's taught us already.  What did you learn in Thursday's discussion?  I learned a lot from Thursday discussion. I learned more about topics that we had talked about from Monday so this was a good refresher/ reminder. I also was really shocked/ interested to find out that the closest planet to us, that is possibly habitable, is 81,000 light years away from us. I al...

Week 6 blog, week 7 class

-What did you do in lab today?   In lab this week we talked about our solar system. We got to do a really cool activity that made us think really hard. The activity that we did was making a scale model of the solar system through the TLC. This was actually really fun and my table mates and I had a great time setting this up. At first it was a little difficult to figure out the scale of the planets in relation to the scale. I had to remake the planets to many times because they were too big! Our planets were between .5 millimeters and 2.8 millimeters. This was actually so difficult it made me really frustrated, HAHA. Overall, it was not too hard, we had an easy time figuring out the scale and how/ where to place each planet when it was time to measure everything out! I loved this activity and would definitely do something like this with my classmates in the future.   -We also were presented with a presentation that we will be doing with our table groups the followin...
