Week 15, final week of science ;(

This week in science we wrapped up all of our class sections. We still did some pretty fun stuff in lab and also took of final in our last lecture class.  In lab, we played a really fun game that taught us how to make observations and inferences. We were given a capsule with a mystery item inside. We had to use observations to find our partner who had a matching capsule with the same item on the inside. It was really fun trying to find our match! After we found who we thought was our partner, we had to write down what observations and inferences. Then we wrote down how confident we are that we are a match, then wrote what we thought was in our bottles. We were 100% a match which was awesome. I loved this experiment/ game and would defiantly do something like this with my future students! After this we did another small experiment with baking soda and vinegar.   Then in lecture this week, we took our first chemistry test, yay, but last test/ final for our class. I lo...

Week 14

This week in science we talked about and used different types of materials than we usually do.  In class, we talked about different types of models and how those can be used in the classroom when a physical model cannot be used. With this being said, we did a experiment in class that had us try different models on the computer. In my group, we were testing why ice melts faster on a metal surface versus a wooden surface. After playing with the model and experimenting with it, we finally figured out how the model represents the relationship with the ice and metal, and the relationship with the ice and the wood. This was very interesting and helped us understand a lot!  After we got done with this portion of the experiment, we made a flip book to show our findings. Here are clips of our flip book:  In our video we have explanations to go with each page of the flip book. After this week, I don't have a lot of questions in regard to the lecture content or the lab content...
