week 9 blog/ week 10 class

-What did you do in lab today?

In lab this week, we discussed the homework from the week before. We also talked about how and what we are learning here in class. We talked about how we are learning to teach science through example. We also talked about how we can text/ see how our students are learning through proficiency and progress. Not only did we talk about that in class, but we also shared our videos about convection cells/ currents with our table group members. It was really cool getting to see how other people chose to do this assignment. After we shared videos, we got to do an activity where we made different types of rocks. Our job was to make igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks from starbursts. This was really fun and I think it was a great way for us to explore how these different types of rocks are made.

here are some photos from our experiment:

-What was the big question? (all big questions are posted below)

Assessments:

1.How do we assess our students?

2.What does it mean? What does an “A”

actually mean?

3.How do we know what to teach?

4.What is the difference between formative

and summative assessment?

5.How do we do that in the classroom and

what does it tell us?

What did you learn in Thursday's discussion?

- SO MUCH, but I also knew a lot of the content already. The biggest thing that I learned from discussion on Thursday was were sand comes from. In the google form, I had put that sand comes from movement on the bottom of the ocean. But, sand actually comes from movement and debris from the earth. So cool!

TEXTBOOK

What did you learn?

That there are intrusive igneous rocks and extrusive igneous rocks. I did not know that there were sub categories of igneous rocks.

What was helpful?

What was most helpful for me was the rock cycle image that was posted in the text book. For me this a good visual to keep so I can remember how these different rocks are formed.

What do you need more information on?

Nothing

What question, comments, or concerns do you have?

none!
